I’m Claire, a photojournalist, writer and artist.
Ever since I picked up a camera for the first time, I became a visualizer. Image composure comes naturally to me, leading me to have my camera with me more often than not. I love dropping into new situations to take photos as much as constructing a story project over months to get in-depth with my subjects. I get a lot of inspiration from the many journalists I follow on social media, editorial photography, classic artwork, and constantly improving on my own work.
2016-2017
My first photography class and my first job as a photojournalist for my high school newspaper, Nordic News. Nothing excited me more than having a press pass and asking as many questions as I wanted. Graduated from high school and started my freshman year at the University of Montana School of Journalism.
2018-2019
Studied abroad at the University of Roehampton for spring semester 2019. Started working at the Montana Kaimin as a photojournalist in fall 2019 and at the Native News Honors Project in spring 2019.
2020-2021
Worked as the Photo Editor at the Montana Kaimin and at the Native News Honors Project. Graduated from the University of Montana with my B.A. in Journalism.
2021-Present
Working freelance on portrait photography and developing my personal photography while breaking into the pro journalism world.
